FALL IS THE GREATEST SEASON + SELF CARE THINGS

Hot chocolate, pumpkins, colorful leaves, cider-mills, and sweaters!  These are just a few of the things that come to mind when I think of fall.  That’s probably the most cliche list ever, but I don’t even care!  Fall is pretty much the most cliche season ever and  I love it!

I haven’t always loved fall.  I used to hate it for the simple fact that it’s when school starts.  But now I have moved past that and I am allowing myself to truly appreciate the beauty that is this season.

I live in Michigan, so I experience the full effect of all four seasons.  If you live somewhere where you don’t get the typical fall weather I would highly advise taking a trip to somewhere that does! I think everyone should experience it at least once!  Even if the cold isn’t your thing there is something so serene about a sunny fall day that you have to experience first-hand to really understand.

This fall I have already knocked a few things off of my seasonal to-do list.  I went to a farm with some friends and we took a hayride to a pumpkin patch and a corn maze!  It was a lot of fun even though I didn’t end up buying any pumpkins. (Broke college student things).

Today the weather was just as nice, so I decided to take my dog to a trail just a short drive from where I live.  I have been there once before when doing a park-cleanup, so I knew the trails would be perfect for a day like today.  We went very slowly just enjoying the scenery which was sooo beautiful.  It took us about an hour and a half to walk 2 miles but it was soo therapeutic.  I need to do stuff like that more often!  I had brought my headphones planning to listen to music but it was so peaceful that I didn’t even bother.  Maybe next time I’ll find a podcast or something, though.

Who knew that a season thats main premise involves things dying could be so beautiful?

Not only was my walk/hike super calming, but I am also feeling so inspired!  After feeling pretty down this weekend this was just what I needed to cheer me up.  I feel so refreshed and energized (despite being sleepy before I went) and ready to get things done!  I highly encourage you to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer because it really is amazing.  If you are in the mood to find a trail and go for a walk I would advise getting the app or going online to AllTrails.  (NOT SPONSORED BTW- I JUST LIKE IT).  It conveniently finds nearby trails and tells you their level of difficulty and shares reviews that other have left.  I am going to use it to plan my next trip!

Another thing that I can’t seem to get enough of during these chillier times is baking!  Cookies, muffins, cupcakes, you name it.  If you’re in the mood to bake something too you can check out my recipe for vegan banana muffins 😉

Alright, well, that’s about it for this fall/nature appreciation post.  I am probably going to go make some hot chocolate and get some homework done on this lovely Sunday evening.  Let me know in the comments what you like to do in the fall!
